Locally owned and operated, SLO GOATS & SHEEP specializes in targeted grazing throughout San Luis Obispo County (SLO). Since its establishment in 2021, the business has serviced residential and commercial properties ranging from 2 to 20 acres.
Owner Delfino Ordaz is supported by his wife Reyna, their four children (daughter Marisol is missing from the image), and a large extended family. Delfino, who has years of experience managing sheep flocks in Mexico, is aided by Reyna, who took charge of a goat herd at 10. The family’s commitment to the well-being of their teams is evident in their use of both traditional methods and modern veterinarian care. Despite Delfino and Reyna’s primary language being Spanish, their three older children are bilingual and play a crucial role in the family’s operations, often as translators.
The youngest shepherd is Garrett. While his lassoing skills are a work in progress, Garrett is a master at handling the guard dogs.
Maiko is an artist who loves to draw. Maiko is SLO Goats & Sheep’s Lead Spotter & Garrett wrangler.
Uriel, one of the older children, is graduating from high school soon. He plans on enlisting in the Marines after graduation. Uriel is SLO Goat and Sheep’s Operations Manager.
Cindy Findley, a family friend and nana to the Ordaz children, helps with sales and marketing and conducts daily team wellness checks. Cindy has a PhD in Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology and an MBA. She is in her happy place talking to the public about the environmental benefits of targeted grazing and bragging about the hardest-working family in SLO County. Cindy owns a ranch in West Atascadero, which is utilized as a maternity ward, infirmary, and quarantine depot.
